Flower Grenade by Tony Minh Nguyen

Posted in product by desheco on May 28, 2010

Maybe its the irony of the concept, or the stellar photo illustration, but I just thought these Flower Grenades were worth a mention. Yes, they are exactly what you think they are: plant your flowers by throwing (and breaking) these clay grenades filled will dirt and seeds.

Japanse Winkeltje by Nezu Aymo Architects

Posted in retail by desheco on May 27, 2010

Amsterdam studio Nezu Aymo Architects have completed the interiors for a Japanese shop in Amsterdam called Japanse Winkeltje. What is quite striking about the space is predominate use of natural materials and fabrics giving the gallery a soft, bright, and tactile feel. I’m really digging the fabric shelves and shelf dividers, though I question how easy they are to maintain.

Clamp Lamp and Slightly Awkward by Evan Clabots

Clamp Lamp and Slightly Awkward are two new light products from Brooklyn based designer Evan Clabots (who I had the pleasure of working for during my first internship here in NYC). I’m diggin both for their clean lines, industrial feel, and playful functionality. More info on these and other products can be found on the site of his newly formed studio, Nonlinear Studio. These two can also be purchased at the Cite store in Soho.

First Aid box by Ulf Thomas Solbach

This first aid box by Ulf Thomas Solbach is just a great example of quality industrial design. It’s easy to find, easy to use, inexpensive to make and looks a heck of a lot better than the white plastic ones most offices have stored away in a cabinet somewhere. Buy it here

Swarovski Amplify by Fuseproject

Posted in product by desheco on May 14, 2010

Fuseproject collaborated with Sworovski to create this hanging chandelier which is an exploration of how a maximum visual effect could be created using minimal materials. To create the effect a single Sworovski crystal is lit with a one low energy LED light which splash light on the facets of the shade.

In the words of Fuseproject: “The AMPLIFY chandelier’s aim is to put the Swarovski crystal effect into the hands of more people through the simple construction, easily accessible light source and sustainable material.”

And of course cuz its from Fuseproject, the packaging is quite nice too (last pic).

Digital Wallpaper by Strukt Studio

Strukt Studio created this “digital wallpaper” by designing a program that reads and maps the contours of a room via painted black stripes on the wall and then using a standard projector, projects images to optically fit the scene. The effect is quite stunning (and quite clever). Watch the video to see what I mean. (via Yatzer)
